alternatives. day 5.

hard disk crash? day 5. deeper scanning

unfortunately it wasn't able to recover 100% of the 2 (out of 5) partitions which it is able to recognise. however, it seems there's a possibility it might be able to access the hard disk and bypassing its filesystems altogether, using the alternative tool PhotoRec, which came along with Test Disk. when i did try PhotoRec, it was able to uncover some images but the rest of the hard disk will take another 300 odd hours. 12 days? let's see if i can find any other alternative first. but at least, it looks like all is not lost. think i need to dig a little deeper. *croses fingers*

hard disk crash? day 4. Black_Pearl_I and Black_Pearl_II lunch pose~!!!

on the other hand. decided to add another 320gb WD external harddisk. aptly named after the first external hdd. had a great time with my team at a buffet lunch yesterday. apparently another patron sitting across us overheard me saying "...fat lady behind us..." while we're taking pics, heh. minus karma points for me.

satisfaction? guaranteed?

as i sit here in office listening to the hustle and bustle of malaysian traffic entering into singapore.

i was pleasantly reminded about a project i was tasked on last year.

i have to admit having difficulty with the project, but apart from blowing my top on it despite many sleepless nights, i made a conscious effort to see it through.

several months later, someone broke the news that the company was very pleased with the overall results (not to mention their stock prices has pretty much gone up from 10c to 50c-odd last i checked my account). and yes, the manager i worked with came back to let them know that it was a great working experience etc etc.

i was surprised that i was attributed for it as well. to be honest at the end of it all, although i think we did a splendid work, i felt beaten.

but suddenly when news like that came back, and people acknowledged the efforts you put in, it feels...

nice.

panda-like behaviours / the one on course

civil service college

at that west coast food centre at that west coast food centre happy by the door
as they say, once bitten twice shy.

although that phrase really has nothing to do with whatever that's happened the past week or so. nor does it play a part in any of the week's development. in fact. nothing much happened the past week or so. except for some ben and jerry's and stuffs like that.

on the other hand. we learnt something about pandas today. day one of two at the civil service college. i feel like a student again. in fact the topics covered reminds me of being in primary 1 again.

and as the images testify, i ended up at west coast food centre with the parents for some tulang which was superb. and one photo from tony's place over the weekend.

the coffee and tea cup with the silver tea spoon

the coffee and teacup with the spoon.

so i gave it a little thought before i went back to work last night.

because part of me is really quite silly. with the strangest bits of today, discovering the answer to an earlier question. after knocking off from night shift saturday morning, choon brought me out for spiderman 3 at yishun. we had some toast and tea at ya kun before taking the train to the funfair.

bumped into the boy while walking to the funfair from causewaypoint. he smiled at us first, and choon was surprised when he saw someone very familiar from the distance. it was awfully silent as the crowd blurred. i said bye as we passed. and i tried to ignore his smile. i wished i had decided to stick around and ask how is he doing. but... i guess without saying much. i knew the answers anyway.

or at least i wanted to believe those are the answers.

afternoon movies, daiso and the $2 writing board.

so, brought the boy to watch the malay horror flick, Jangan Pandang Belakang for the noon movie at shaw jurong east.

for a horror movie, it still manage to give me a little spooky feeling here and there. but overall, i was laughing throughtout most of the movie. in fact, the cheesy ending was very amusing. but in all honesty, yes some parts did give me goosebumps, simply because we've all heard all sorts of malay urban legends.

Jangan Pandang Belakang Jangan Pandang Belakang

don't look back. oh well. its thursday night tonight. creepy.

after which, we went to imm and ended up spending a good 2 hours in daiso. bought quite a lot of stuffs, inclusive of a white marker board and magnetic basket for the refridgerator. chatted up the japanese store clerk. about which whiteboard marker is best. because all of them came in cute packaging!!! so, ended up with a little too much home-ware items, and made myself some riceballs for supper at work later.

the green gooeey stuff / the one where its time to reassess my life

the green gooeey stuff was din's idea of cheering me up for my pre b-day. Originally uploaded by kairin.
so, it was a nice sit down and chit chat with din and his cousin. her bf joined us in a while. and yeah.

they were from jurong institute. i was from jurong institute for a very brief period.

and i just realized how much life. vitality. and energy these young ones exudes.

man. what have i been missing in life mixing around with people who wants to get straight As in their report book?

on the other hand, din reminded me that we're supposed to spend time together this saturday. well perhaps the kl road trip being cancelled might be a good thing.

i also realized that i've started to be apprehensive about someone else. oh dear.

its not so much of what have i done. but i think i kinda realize who's the right one in my life.

well. first step's are always hard. and i'm glad i did. although on another note. i know i've a lot to lose. heck i'll be jobless in another 2 days.

but i guess sha's right. just be me. i know me very well. and being me is what i do best. and me, has always been there and we've gone through everything.

heck turning 25 is not so bad afterall.

i'm glad you're happy / the one who missed the play

i'm glad to recieve david's sms that he is generally happy today.

i started the day with a meeting. i can't help but in the busiest part of the business district, there are so many quiet pockets. totally serene. and peaceful.

if you only knew where to find them.

his course at SP ended at 6pm, decided to leave early to meet the boy for dinner at lot 1. wanted to get 2 pairs of tickets for ekamatra's "how did the cat get so fat" disappointed when the sistic counter lady told us the tickets has sold out. yeapz. its always, get your tickets early to avoid disappointments. gah. bear was the one who's instilled in me this love for watching plays and theatre.

i'll make it a point to watch, at least one this year. that is an achievable goal. and one where i'd want to work on immediately.

bright skies ahead / the one away from office

43things

"Making achievable goals shouldn’t feel like balancing a checkbook. There’s a tendency for people to fanatically over-plan their goals. This creates a sort of smokescreen that helps hide the fact that you’re not actually doing anything. I’ve been guilty of this for many goals, until I eventually found out that there was a tangible sense of relief from removing goals that I didn’t want to do, but merely wanted to want to do. Most goals don’t need a list of next actions, progress meters, line graphs, and customizable excel spreadsheets. Really! The sign of an achievable goal is that it wants to be worked on immediately."

yes... definitely a reminder from friday's sms. which... helped put things in motion.

notebook planner moleskine me and you / the one with the sha sha boys

i'm in a don't need an excuse to shop its my birthday kind of mood.

shah sham

on the train home / the one with the sha sha boys

take the first 3 letters of our names. sha and sha. eh, can call us the sha sha boys! + )

so in the end. i bought for myself 4 moleskines. set me back for a hundred just for 2 pairs of pocket sized notebooks. would be great to bring along during the little trip.

perhaps visit the new island. pulau batang tegang. since pulau dayang bunting is for the women folk, that's the most happening island for the menfolk. heh. been a very cheery afternoon with shah and sham. glad they invited me along to starbucks.

you know what's funny is how people turn up in your lives. i guess i'm fortunate that mine came in a pair.

and in a way. i kind of discovered something i like about my profession. planning and strategising. that discussion for shah's and sham's endeavour for the near future kind of set something in motion. for them. and definitely for me. discovery by chance.

and yeah. i think that kinda gave me some confidence.

so i laughed a lot. and pretty much destressed. without going to any clubs, drinking any booze, or staying out late. though too bad there won't be a huge cake with someone cute jumping out of it wearing just a bowtie. gah. thankfully still its not just another weekend.

no regrets / time warp in the office

this time round, this entry is brought to you by Vinco, The Doughnut Parlour. and as much as i want it to, no i'm not paid for this plug. the donut store opened recently and is located opposite of secret recipe... somewhere in vivocity. yes you've heard it here first. from this donut craving erm. guy. so there's no bloody stupid long queue like that donut factory we've seen here... and oh if you've noticed, vivocity has been rather quiet of late. yippy.

the boy, had one almond donut and i... well the rest i hoarded for myself at home.

on another hand... so many doubts are surfacing. its useless to think about these things. especially since that's just how i feel. uncertainty. perhaps. that's why we move on in life.

that said. i'd probably have my sugar high soon. darn. i feel like i'm 5 years old again.

which one? / the one who's in need of an ikea saturday.

which which?

"which one?"

the one with letters of great importance

+ ) it takes a whole lot more than that. to dampen a good midweek. and yes it did not. despite missing the train station to city hall. thinking that raffles city is in fact at raffles mrt station.

i was so excited that at last i am heading to donut factory, that i called up my sister who's knocking off work nearby to meet me at raffles mrt to get some dozens of them donuts.

"are you sure?" she said. yes yes yes yes i'm sure, i most certainly was. but of course we all know now that i did not end up getting my hands on any donuts. for that matter. however. sadly. whatever filler word to place here. so instead, we got ourselves some shepherd's pie and pepper chicken pie from The Royals - Caltex House , Basement 1 (Raffles Place MRT).

and got for myself and the boy a banana chocolate and dark chocolate truffles... and so the chocolate cravings has been satiated. and he reminded me that my paunch is showing. damn it. no shirtless walks on the beach.

not to mention i was being a cheapskate. [info]abdaziz suggested that i should pick up some maps to familiarize myself for the upcoming langkawi trip... but instead, i used my mobile phone to pick up bits and information from lonely planet books at pageone.

they sure live up to their world's best guidebooks.

so. the brutal truth of being rejected. is only to realize that in fact there are other candidates who are way better than me. and much more qualified for those posts. i will not let it get to me yet and be all depressed. round one interviews are interviews are interviews.

so we planned to go ikea instead on saturday.

letting him go / the one with the night run leaving him breathless

run.

it took me since early this year to find a nice little pouch that i can strap on to my arm. those armband pouch thingies. well the other fact is that i was lazy to look for it hence never found one.

cool air. quiet neighbourhood. long runs. with some music to accompany me. and my thoughts.

good things should not be had every other day. it loses its magic. the feeling dissipates. kenneth is right. let the feeling linger. thats the magic with good things in your life. it shouldn't happen too often. that way its sweeter and stays in your heart much longer.

vanish without a trace

is this how it ends?

is this how it ends?

the cheerleader is saved afterall. save the cheerleader, save the world. and some of the thoughts that ran through my mind as i did my night run... is trying to piece it all together and make some sense out of it. i feel hurt. but i know darn well i was asking for it since the beginning. as they always say, set him free. if its meant to be, its meant to be. nonetheless, if only it was reciprocated.

makes me wish i can vanish without a trace.

resorting to pick up my regular night runs, from where i left off, in order to get away from it all.
