get smarts

Get Smart

get smart was a real riot. i think it helps that i've seen many of the tv series as a kid. the cast were great and the resemblance to agents 86 and 99 were uncanny.

watched yesterday with dec. before having supper at east coast. laughed a lot from the start of the movie and nice conversations lasted till sending him home.

magic greens and blues.

recalled

so will be going to police driving school for my 2 days reservist next month. sounds like fun. will be cam whoring as much as i can.

:-P

on the project front, the people at mda gave some advice on what i want to do, and received a call with an acra representitive yesterday morning after the email exchange we had last friday. she's very nice and am very thankful for her explanations. ultimately i have to decide how i want to proceed. i have to plan out properly this time.

on another hand, how many real people actually have the time for web 2.0? stuffs like facebook, del.icio.us, myspace and so on so forth.

how do you make a "desire" out of nothing?
how do you convert that "desire" to a "need"?

ok.

when was the last time you've seen a malay tv show that's actually entertaining?

http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=bzz07&search_query=emil&search=Search

i'm hooked to this. the link above leads to most episodes of the series so that's not too bad. made in malaysia with english subs, 25 episodes in all.

sweetest episode so far.

and yeah it stars sharifah amani, or that girl from the film "sepet" amongst other notable malay actors/actresses.

just watched top gun for the nth time in my life. it always leaves me with the same emotions as it did when i first seen it years back. i just realized that this movie prolly resulted in my fixation to yukikaze and macross.

e ink / the one with the whole galaxy in his hand

Readius - concept half open

click for a larger view, apparently they used douglas adam's hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. how apt that there's a hint of what is to come.

coming from my earlier post about the kindle the only alternative initially was the cybook gen3 by bookean (for its compactness and mobi/prc file support).

however, for USD$299 if i act now, i can get the hanlin v3 by jinke. according to my email exchanges with their marketing/sales the future firmware/software updates for the v3 is set to make the hanlin v3 more attractive, albeit the made in china perception.

webstuffs / what i'm geeking on

Scrybe Planner Scrybe Thoughtpad

beta testing on scrybe. another web 2.0 application. pretty neat.

also for those who are intending to get that new ipod touch. i can't seem to find any info if it has any pda like function. but in case it does not have. guess what? safari + scrybe = pda !!! well i think. so if you care to buy that new ipod thingie. get a scrybe account too! (wait, but its flash based, so will it still work on iphone's / ipod's safari?)

but in order to have flash working, maybe something like gnash can help for the meantime. purportedly works here.

on the other hand, flash support of some kind is bound to appear on safari devices. partly because microsoft's offering of silverlight might mean something. well actually, flash support will more than likely to appear soon.

a little bit of shopping will do you good.

1929

so today, asked the boy if he wanted to follow me around looking for some simple polo t's. i did not find anything in vivocity to be appealing. so much for a uber huge shopping centre. found our way to chinatown where i thought i wanted to show him this bookstore called whatever. felt negative vibes actually upon stepping into the store. we left shortly after.

ice creams. and old hokkien songs later, ended up getting 2 nice fitting polo t's at sportsmenasia. not sure if i end up buying because the polo t's are nice, or because i just wanna hump every one of the store assistants.

donuts donuts

donuts courtesy of my colleague, pauline. i just love the honeydew flavoured one. no wait. i love all of them~!!!

a little bit of goofing around would prob do me some good. and shoes heaven. as taken by the boy.

the kuey adventure

so its all because of this entry here that in a way sparked off today's adventure with the boy, from bukitpanjang to chinatown to vivocity to tiong bahru.

traditional chinese desserts - chinatown

snacks at tiong bahru market

so we scoured the whole of chinatown for some traditional dessert (egg and milk pudding for him and herbal jelly for me) before looking for chee kuey, which to my delight was found in the temporary market facing SGH morgue.

after which we visited vivocity before making our way to tiong bahru food market. apparently it has gone through renovations and i am happy to announce that i had my fill of ang ku kuey and soon kuey there. nothing like some traditional snacks to make me satisfied.

we headed down to vivocity partly because i really wanted to have a look at ken seet's photo essay at pageone. breathtaking digital images. black and whites.

the other part of the reason was for some donuts.

yay!

how do you lose your children.

the last film was today at lido. "koper" starring anjasmara, the indonesian actor/model who posed nude in some posters recently.

out of the four films that i managed to catch during the film fest, "3 Hari Untuk Selamanya", "Village People Radio Show", "Things We Do When We Fall In Love", "Koper / The Lost Suitcase", i enjoyed the first and the last one the most. interestingly both are from indonesia / indonesian directors. the thing about both films is how they tell their story.

park your children

met up the boy at tampines, though i was pretty late. we went to have a look at the NS40 whatever exhibition thingie. oh well, never thought i could feel pretty bored. highlight of the late afternoon was the R4 DS i got for myself. woot.

and we visited ikea tampines~! yay! we also discovered that parents lose their kids in large shopping centres, very easily. we both concluded that they may actually have done it on purpose. i mean, with brats like those, i too would want to leave them behind.

looking forward to the rest of the week. i love the rain. so nice and cool. someone cuddle up with me?

the evening with tony and the ayam penyet

german animation

tony and the ayam penyet

so after watching eternal summer, [info]swimz brought me along for dinner at this ayam penyet stall in lucky plaza. i like the sambal le. very different than other ayam penyet.

Eternal Summer

i had a film to catch at the museum's Gallery Theatre in the late evening, village people radio show or here or more over here. really nice little space for watching films. i have to say, you should come for the "under the crescent moon" featured showcase at the museum while it is still on. there were many interesting images on display. part of it is also dedicated to arabic architecture.

a couple of days back i caught "3 Days to Forever - 3 Hari untuk Selamanya" or more about the film here, starring nicholas saputra or here or here, quite the hottie if you ask me.

upcoming will be Things We Do When We Fall in Love or here or here. and The Lost Suitcase (Koper). well hopefully i can get myself off days for both screening.

testing online storage

hard drive in a loincloth.
testing online storage for files. now i can share pdf / zip / etc files and no time limit (the only limitation is the 10mb filesize and the monthly 10gb download bandwidth.)

this entry was (partly) posted directly from box.net's online interface. now that i've settled on an online storage system for file distribution, (between this and amazon's S3, via jungledisk.com, i think i'd stick to this one for the time being. anyone knows of a similar service from google or yahoo perhaps?)

the test file is located below. so if you're curious just click. no harm will come your way.

prompts

virtual pc 2007

look ma. a pc in a pc!

so thanks to [info]ellcrius for spotting the error, which prompted me to figure out how else i can get ie6 to work on vista. i've already known of the multiple ie workaround but it just doesn't work with vista. and i don't want to go through the hassle of dual booting my system, which means i have to log out and log in just to have a quick check.

so i'm really grateful that i stumbled on the virtual pc option purely by chance. and a whole lot of googling. although what i am surprised about is why i didn't stumble on it sooner? perhaps its not a popular means of getting ie6. but... i guess when one is rather desperate for a solution...

on the other hand, i love the idea behind the beryl project. anyone willing to... spare me their old laptops? you can see the beryl project in the videos below. now how's that for flashy desktop. i am so wanting to pimp my... pc...

on another front, this is a great online photo magazine, at http://jpgmag.com/. you can download some of their past issues from the website itself.

its really cool and a worthy read for an alternative take on the imaging world.

there's also another photographic website that adrian introduced me today, where the images are user-submitted polaroids, located at http://plrds.com/.

the hot one.

i'm a pro-bbq fire starter. trust me. the cooking part on the other hand requires quite a lot of work though.

breakfast with choon yesterday. class 95 played some tunes that meant something to me.

on another train of thought, was trying to solve a problem. while i was sleeping. in my dreams. kind of got an answer. but woke up at around 4pm, with a massive headache. back to the codes. hate this feeling. not getting healthy sleep.
