creamed chicken and sliced beef with toast

poached/sauted potatoes (with a clove of garlic and onion, and other garnishes, standard prep), with ayam masak lemak which i modified to be chicken and cream (simmer the gravy and the chicken on a pan, until gravy is thick and creamy, perfect for dipping with toast, add parsley and garnishing for added flavour)

thin beef slices (marinated with spices, sugar and olive oil)

and finally, slices of french loaf "fried" with the remaining olive oil on the pan to soak up the flavour/aroma from the spices used on the beef.

lunch~!!! lunch~!!! dessert~!!!

mmm the e51's camera is not as good as my previous W810i. it reminds me of that NEC phone and the 6630 i used sometime back.

the kuey adventure

so its all because of this entry here that in a way sparked off today's adventure with the boy, from bukitpanjang to chinatown to vivocity to tiong bahru.

traditional chinese desserts - chinatown

so we scoured the whole of chinatown for some traditional dessert (egg and milk pudding for him and herbal jelly for me) before looking for chee kuey, which to my delight was found in the temporary market facing SGH morgue.

after which we visited vivocity before making our way to tiong bahru food market. apparently it has gone through renovations and i am happy to announce that i had my fill of ang ku kuey and soon kuey there. nothing like some traditional snacks to make me satisfied.

we headed down to vivocity partly because i really wanted to have a look at ken seet's photo essay at pageone. breathtaking digital images. black and whites.

the other part of the reason was for some donuts.

yay!

afternoon movies, daiso and the $2 writing board.

so, brought the boy to watch the malay horror flick, Jangan Pandang Belakang for the noon movie at shaw jurong east.

for a horror movie, it still manage to give me a little spooky feeling here and there. but overall, i was laughing throughtout most of the movie. in fact, the cheesy ending was very amusing. but in all honesty, yes some parts did give me goosebumps, simply because we've all heard all sorts of malay urban legends.

Jangan Pandang Belakang Jangan Pandang Belakang

don't look back. oh well. its thursday night tonight. creepy.

after which, we went to imm and ended up spending a good 2 hours in daiso. bought quite a lot of stuffs, inclusive of a white marker board and magnetic basket for the refridgerator. chatted up the japanese store clerk. about which whiteboard marker is best. because all of them came in cute packaging!!! so, ended up with a little too much home-ware items, and made myself some riceballs for supper at work later.

donut fleximap kitty cat

this post was by no means sponsored by the company that brought you the left mentioned image. and in no way was this post brought to you by the aforementioned left mentioned image. and no. i did not in any way whatsoever purchased any of the previously mentioned aforementioned left mentioned image. sadly.

and so... after yesterday's meetup with sis. we decided to meet today at city hall mrt station. where the donut factory was actually located. duh moment of the week. well there's always a duh moment with me. and just a little recap of when this donut craving began. + )

donuts factory
and as you can see. technically i was there in the queue. and i was tired of waiting in line for 5 minutes. and decided to leave the queue to have dinner with sis at sakura thai chinese restaurant, across the road. and after a simple hearty meal, somehow we discovered ourselves to be in the queue. again. and yes, we left the queue after 5 minutes because for the likes of me, i was distracted by the cuties and the shops in display.

this is raffles city.

ok i hate similar sounding names.

well actually, i wanted to hunt for maps and travelguides again. well... more like just take the time to ponder if i should... well i did anyway... after about 15 minutes of walking around, i discovered myself to be in the queue again for the 3rd frigging time. and of course dropped off after 5 min when it struck me that MPH was at the same level.
I Am a Cat Three Volumes in One

sis bought for herself a nice little book. and i found insight's fleximaps and periplus's travelmaps for malaysia/langkawi 3rd edition as per that website. perhaps i'd see if i can buy them off from someone as secondhand... anyone out there?

oh thanks [info]bluboi78 for those interesting writeups of langkawi. heh.

Jan. 26th, 2006

its pretty hot today ain't it?

technically 2 days several hours away from C.N.Y,
regretted not stocking up on food supply in advance.
wanted to make chicken curry + potatoes today,
went to Sheng Shiong and saw the queue...

between crossing one overhead bridge,
carrying heavy plastic bags, in the hot sun.
i decided to just drop the contest form,
and go back home, panting + sweaty.

besides, can't help feeling a little too...
anxious? fidgety? self-aware? conscious.
that the mak ciks and their daughters are staring.
as i check prices of the instant curry mix + corriander leaves.

so far it has been 2 good news this week.
thank you for the well wishes.
although dad's phone call was cut off after 15 secs.
managed to tell him the good news and could hear him want to cry?

:: edited :: kamen rider black. i'm not sure about you. but they showed this series on the malaysian TV2 in the afternoons. i recalled coming home from school in the morning, finished up my homework, so i can get to catch the series on tv. i think it should be in 1998 or 1996 (either i was 12 or 10) when they were showing. and thanks to google videos, you can even watch 2 of the first episodes of Kamen Rider BLACK~! coming back to last night's post on those superheroes...

of all the kamen riders, i think i like BLACk the most (not that i've seen the others) but somehow BLACK is such a cool grasshopper looking fella. and he's cute too when not in his cool shiny uniform. oh... why i say grasshopper? cause the indonesian adaptation of the character was, Satria Baja Hitam, looks like another blogger was talking about this too, hahaha. i think at that time, i thought it meant little black grasshopper. or something. thinking about it now... i realize how my malay language sucks. and thats why people wonder how come i get really great grades for malay and higher malay. according to this blogger it meant Black Steel Knight. duh. another op video of kamen rider black. don't you just love the soundtracks? its so broody. and gets you into that mood of the brink of last days on earth~! GO KAMEN RIDER BRAC-KU~!

and here's another video on cute, demented bunnies. turns out to be from the school attended by </a>[info]adrian too.

a domesticating and blue entry

dinner

warning. the entry herein is higly domesticating and/or boring. it also contains objectionable content. depending on what u deem offensive anyway. otherwise, it's mostly harmless. )

a scene from Little Britain Season 1, episode 2.
andy, "yeah i know".

anyway if you find 3 apples tall and blue coloured creatures to be vulgar, i apologise. however i did warned you didn't i? hehe.

blue entries for the day includes this one here and this one here. am i missing out on something here..?

::update:: one thing i forgot to add was my visit to sheng shiong. ok, so technically there's AuntieUC, Cold Storage and sheng shiong within my neighbourhood. Cold Storage would have the younger ladies working at the counter. and only AuntieUC and sheng shiong would have more of the older ladies working at the counter. However between the two, i am extremely surprised at how friendly the aunties at sheng shiong are compared to AuntieUC lor... its like they will greet, smile and say thank you. i have to admit i prefer Cold Storage simply because they have a better variety of stuffs. but between all three, sheng shiong is by far the friendliest bunch of aunties at the cashier counters. and i would have generally thought that all those aunties don't give a damn about serving with a smile. perhaps there's something to be learnt here.

and when you shop and meet these nice/polite people, its only natural to be polite as well. hehe. a smile sure goes a long way.

a little crazy / always a first

+ )

its another... wierd day. perhaps. grocery shopping with mom in the morning. discovered that they've done some nice changes to bukit panjang plaza. it now almost resemble any other neighbourhood shopping centre. wow. news of the day.

ok, that's not really it.

remember how everyone have their first time? first sex. first fag. first smack on the head with a tennis ball. first 3-pointer shot at the court. first toto or 4D strike. first sex. and the thing about having great sex is to treat every attempt as a very passionate first sex. almost like a virgin touched for the very first time hehe. but thats for another day's topic.

today. i had my first. my first time to watch a movie by myself.

at the turn of the century, and being a little more than 2 decades old. i've never been to a cinema alone. not until this afternoon. eversince i can remember. up till today, all the movies that i've been to, i've been with someone. at least someone. be it my sis. my bro. or both of them when i was still a school-going teen. with my friends. with my NS buddies. with colleagues. with a total stranger i've met on the net.

with the ex.

i guess i have always feared going to the cinema alone. the underlying factor is being alone. in a big cinema. in the dark. when other people around u are coupling or sitting with friends laughing or whispering some things. which also annoys me greatly to hear all those giggly whispers. the very auntie chit chats. the parents with the kid who just could not shut the f#^@ up. oh well... god will have his way with such people.

so there. i watced aeon flux by myself yesterday afternoon, or this afternoon (however you see it) at westmall. oh. i have to admit i kinda like trevor goodchild in this version of aeon flux. mmm. yum.

having watched the MTV animated version. the comics. and now the movie. i guess aeon flux to me is quite complete. the questions were answered. some new ideas surfaced.

smells like fresh baked...

project muffins has gone out of prototype.
muffin tester #2 yesterday at plaza singapura.

so i met gabriel yesterday at plaza singapura. for chicken little. and he is officially muffin tester #2. needs a lot of tweaking. definitely not supposed to put big chunks of strawberries at the top. but managed to get them to fluff up more. think i'm getting the hang of this. gabriel's verdict. edible.

good enough for me. hehehehe.

:-)

the worse thing about yesterday was i left the house. locked the main gates. and then realized i left my keys on the dinner table. and then i thought i ought to call mum and dad that i kinda locked myself out of the house. and then i realized i left my mobile phone beside my keys. and the only number i can recall from the back of my head. are some 2s and 3s. but all ended pretty well.

:-)

blueberry muffins, the second attempt

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

so last night, i tried at the muffins again. made two batches. the first one, overflowed into something like a volcano. it didn't hold together very well. the second one didn't "bloom" like a muffin should. met someone nice for dinner, and asked him to try out the second set of muffins. hehe. well, i didn't get 5 stars but i guess there's always room to improve.

and around 3 am i made the second batch. which ended up like the last set of pictures. all smelled like how muffins should smell. but none looked like muffins. kinda disappointing. my ideal muffins should be crumbly i suppose. i dunno.

ended up making 4 pieces of large, soft, chewy cookies as well.

ok. off to work. kitchen has that lingering smell of fresh baked muffins. hahaha.
